My Favorite Indie Games on Itch.io (Part 2)
Sometimes, simple is the best way to go…
IMPEACHED
Impeached is a hilarious simulator game in which you play the president.
First, you are presented with two different new laws to choose from.
For the record, they are all ridiculous things and the writing in this game is top-notch and pokes fun at serious politics.
Once you’ve made a choice between the new laws and added your signature, you are taken to a press conference where you will answer questions from reporters on the new legislation.
In similar fashion, the questions are hilariously outrageous as well. So are the response choices you are given as answers!
As a person who is fairly politically involved and passionate, I found this game a refreshing poke of fun at the entire establishment with some nice (though subtle) Trump jabs sprinkled throughout.
Highly recommended for a good laugh.
PERKY LITTLE THINGS
First of all, this game is definitely NSFW and contains adult content!
Which, of course, means I loved it!
The drawings are very sexual in nature, so be warned.
It’s a hidden object game, with a unique twist.
Once you’ve found an object, you also need to find the person in the large scene that most needs that particular object, and then give it to them.
This is hilariously dirty and highly recommended! Please be aware that this is a demo, and the full game can be purchased on Steam (which I *did* do and *yes* it *is* worth it!)
ETERNAL HOME FLORISTRY
Eternal Home Floristry is more of an interactive novel or fiction than it is heavy on gameplay, which is fine.
One of my absolute favorite mobile games is The Wolf Among Us, which is much the same.
A good story is enough to satisfy.
In this one, you play an injured hitman hiding out in a florist shop with the old man who has been responsible for running the last remaining store that uses *real* flowers.
He takes you on as a sort of apprentice and you must help him prepare his final flowers for a few very special clients and occasions, based on the emotions that each type of flower inspires.
Very story-driven and short, but worth the time.
A THOUSAND WORDS TO TELL YOU I LOVE YOU
A Thousand Words to Tell You I Love You is another one that is sure to make you laugh.
You are trying to impress a female with your conversation skills, which is about as difficult as it sounds LOL.
The way the game works, you are given a pre-written sentence with a blank space somewhere within it.
The sentences are all borrowed from pop culture references, often movie quotes or lines.
For example, one of them reads: “E.T. phone ____”
You get to choose from a huge pile of pre-written words and phrases to fill the blank.
This results in some truly hilarious things you can end up saying to a very confused girl LOL.
My biggest criticisms are that the options to choose from are not all visible at once, and overlap so much that some options are completely buried in the pile.
This would be less of an issue if they gave you more time to choose from the options, but the time limit is very short.
It either needs better layout for the options, or a much longer time allotted to make selections.
Still, an amusing way to waste some time.
LITTLEWOOD
This is only a demo which is offered for free on itch.io, but it was enticing enough that I gladly purchsed the full version over on Steam!
If you like games that are heavy on mining, combining and collecting different materials and items then Littlewood is sure to entertain you for hours.
As always, I'm a total sucker for the old 16-bit artwork in this game. I waste countless hours just re-designing my city pointlessly and it brings me great joy.
If this sounds like your type of game, trust me when I say you should try the demo on itch.io and then buy the full version on Steam!
HARVESTRACKS
I'll be real with you for a moment and readily admit that Harvestracks is a bit of a WTF type of game LOL.
I'll also be honest about the fact that I have no real idea what the object of this game is supposed to be.
On the plus side, it is still fun somehow.
